The LighTouch® HCT was developed to provide a noninvasive continuous monitor of hematocrit and total blood volume with sufficient sensitivity, accuracy and precision as to give the earliest possible indication of internal hemorrhage and other conditions.

The basic model uses the unique, painless, LighTouch® Medical exclusive, light based Raman spectroscopy technologyto monitor a patient’s hematocrit levels as well as a host of other medically indicative blood analytes allowing studies in dialysis centers, blood banks, critical care, trauma centers, emergency rooms and most situations where monitoring relative changes in hematocrit or blood volume is diagnostic or valuable in other ways. This device is very sensitive to shifts in peripheral blood perfusion, changes in cardiac output and central hypovolemia. The status of replacement fluids can be monitored, as can autonomic responses for signs of abnormality or departures from normal homeostasis.

This model includes the proprietary LighTouch® PDPM system for fingertip placement and pressure maintenance and ridge placement as mediated by the proprietary LighTouch® graphical user interface. More advanced models have the capacity to measure blood glucose, total protein and other analytes accessible by Raman spectroscopy and quantifiable using the proprietary LighTouch® algorithms. This device can be integrated to include pulse rate monitoring, blood pressure, ECG, pulse oximeters (spO2) and photoplethysmographic devices into its suite of simultaneous measurements.

This device is currently being tested and is in application processes for Investigational Device Exemption status en route to full FDA testing and approval. The current work and testing of our hematocrit device will also pave the way for full FDA approval of our Glucose monitor.
